Amul Dairy, officially known as the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Limited (KDCMPUL), was founded in 1946. It played a crucial role in India's White Revolution, transforming the country into the world's largest milk producer. The cooperative was initiated to combat the exploitation of dairy farmers by middlemen, under the guidance of leaders like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. Verghese Kurien. Amul is renowned for its innovative cooperative model and extensive network of over 3.6 million milk producers.
