The China Algae Industry Association (CAIA), formerly known as the China Seaweed Industry Association, was established on March 31, 1989, and renamed on April 1, 2013. Operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, CAIA is a national, industrial, and non-profit organization comprising enterprises involved in algae cultivation, processing, circulation, and comprehensive utilization, as well as related scientific research institutions and technical personnel. CAIA serves as a representative body for China's algae industry, promoting industry development, facilitating communication and coordination, and supporting technological innovation within the sector.
