The Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Exchange Association (referred to as the "Sea Trade Association") was established on January 6, 2004. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is a non-profit social organization with corporate legal person status. The association is composed of enterprises, societies, research institutions and individuals that are representative of the national economic and trade circles and are engaged in and enthusiastic about cross-strait economic and trade exchanges. Its purpose is to promote cross-Strait economic exchanges and cooperation, promote direct cross-Strait trade, and achieve the great cause of peaceful reunification of the motherland.
