The DA - Cagayan Valley Research Center (CVRC) is a regional research institution under the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office II (DA-RFO II) located in Ilagan, Isabela, Philippines. CVRC plays a pivotal role in developing science-based technologies and innovations to improve the productivity, sustainability, and resilience of agriculture in the Cagayan Valley region and beyond.

Core Business and Objectives

CVRC's core mandate is to undertake applied agricultural research and development to support the Department of Agriculture’s goals for food security and rural development. Its research programs aim to generate and disseminate technologies tailored to the needs of Cagayan Valley’s agro-ecological zones, ensuring that farmers and agripreneurs gain access to innovations that increase yield, lower production costs, and enhance sustainability.

Product and Service Offerings

As a government research institution, CVRC offers scientific and technical services in various areas of agriculture:

  • Crop Variety Development:

    • Focused on rice, corn, legumes, and high-value crops suited for regional conditions.
  • Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Farming:

    • Research on organic fertilizer formulation, integrated pest management, and natural farming systems.
  • Bio-Control and Integrated Pest Management (IPM):

    • Development and propagation of Trichogramma and other natural enemies for pest control.
  • Mushroom Research and Propagation:
