The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC), established in 1961 under the Commodities Promotion Act, is dedicated to promoting, researching, and educating about peanuts on behalf of Georgia's peanut farm families. Funded by a $2 per ton assessment on all peanut producers, GPC is governed by a five-member board of elected peanut farmers. Georgia leads the nation in peanut production, contributing significantly to the state's economy. GPC's environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient office in Tifton, Georgia, includes an education center and gift shop highlighting Georgia's official state crop.
