Joining forces for food safety and food security in Saudi ArabiaHortiRoad2theGulf is a Dutch public-private partnership (Partners for International Business) by the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the research and private sector, and symbolizes the Dutch approach to the rising demand for self-sufficiency in food security in Saudi Arabia. Our approach is a holistic approach: not only do we believe that public, private, and knowledge sectors should bind forces, but we also believe interlinkage between the sectors of water, energy, and food is crucial to increase food security in a realistic and sustainable manner. HortiRoad2theGulf underlines this nexus approach by guaranteeing high-quality and healthy fresh produce, that is locally produced in a manner that puts the least necessary pressure on our already scarce resources. The consortium bundles all segments of the horticultural industry, and together has the strength to realize long-term solutions for regional food security agendas.
