Skylake is the codename for Intel's sixth-generation Core microprocessor family, launched on August 5, 2015. It succeeded the Broadwell microarchitecture and utilized the same 14 nm manufacturing process. Skylake introduced a microarchitecture redesign that enhanced CPU and GPU performance while reducing power consumption. It served as a 'tock' in Intel's tick–tock manufacturing and design model. Skylake CPUs share their microarchitecture with subsequent Intel processors, including Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, Whiskey Lake, and Comet Lake.
