The Authority for SME Development (ASMED) in Oman was established by Royal Decree No. 107/2020 with the mandate to uplift the SME sector and artisan industries, integrating them into the overall development of the Omani economy. ASMED's responsibilities include preparing development plans and policies for SMEs, providing financial and technical consulting, encouraging market integration, and organizing training programs for entrepreneurs. The authority also focuses on creating a supportive regulatory environment and ensuring SMEs have access to business opportunities within Oman.
