Established in 1959 by Luigi Ruggieri, Cantine Lizzano is a cooperative winery located in the heart of Salento, Puglia. The winery was founded to enhance local wine production by combining ancient farming practices with modern winemaking techniques. Today, it is one of the largest and most modern cooperatives in Southern Italy, with over 400 members and 500 hectares of vineyards. The cooperative produces a variety of wines, including Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia, Moscato, Chardonnay, Pinot, and Cabernet. Cantine Lizzano is known for its commitment to quality and sustainability, and it is the only cooperative in Italy presided over by a woman, Rita Macripò.
