Established in 1968, Castletownbere Fishermen's Co-Operative Society Ltd. is a cooperative organization located in Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland. Initially formed by a group of fishermen to purchase fuel in bulk, the co-op expanded its operations to include fish sales and processing. In 1983, it opened its first fish processing unit at the main pier in Castletownbere, and by 2004, the facility had expanded to 5,000 square meters, enabling large-scale processing and reducing the supply chain from fisherman to consumer. The co-op operates its own processing plant with 60 tonnes of chill capacity, 200 tonnes of cold storage, and 50 tonnes of freezing capacity.
