Founded in 1967, the Fogo Island Co-operative Society Limited is a community-based enterprise located off Newfoundland's rugged northeast coast. It was established by local fishermen to sustain the island's economy through the harvesting and processing of various seafood species, including snow crab, cold water shrimp, lobster, Atlantic cod, capelin, Greenland halibut, sea cucumber, herring, and mackerel. Operating three modern processing plants in Fogo, Joe Batt's Arm, and Seldom, the Co-op has built a reputation for honesty, integrity, and world-class quality, exporting to markets in Canada, the USA, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Denmark, the UK, and Europe.
