Flow of Pariir Agriculture Cooperative is a farmer-led organization based in Saranay, Cabatuan, Isabela, Philippines. The cooperative is an exemplar of community-driven agribusiness innovation, known particularly for its pioneering mung bean (munggo) product development initiatives. With a strong orientation toward value-adding, sustainability, and food innovation, the cooperative has garnered national recognition for transforming traditional agricultural commodities into modern, marketable food items.
Established by local farmers in the fertile agricultural lands of Cabatuan, the Flow of Pariir Agriculture Cooperative was conceived to address the limitations of traditional farming income and market access. The cooperative derives its name from "Pariir," an Ilocano term reflecting unity and collective growth. With technical support from government agencies like the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the cooperative evolved from a basic farming collective into an integrated agribusiness entity.
The cooperative is engaged in the cultivation, processing, and commercialization of mung bean-based food products and other agricultural commodities. It leverages community labor and indigenous knowledge, augmented by technological interventions, to produce innovative food items from locally grown crops. Flow of Pariir focuses on expanding market access for rural farmers through value-added production.
Flow of Pariir Agriculture Cooperative has developed a unique portfolio of mung bean–based products:
In addition to food processing, the cooperative also provides:
Flow of Pariir’s core strength lies in food innovation using mung bean as a base commodity. By transforming a traditionally undervalued crop into multiple high-demand, nutritious food formats, the cooperative has set a benchmark for agricultural cooperatives across the Philippines. Its use of vacuum-frying and dehydration technologies — uncommon among small cooperatives — sets it apart in terms of product shelf life, taste retention, and nutrient preservation.
The cooperative’s financial backbone is supported through:
While exact financial figures are not disclosed, the cooperative's growth trajectory includes a steady rise in operating capital and reinvestment into food processing equipment.
Although largely domestically focused, Flow of Pariir has participated in export-oriented programs facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Go Lokal:
The cooperative targets several segments:
Flow of Pariir’s operational and innovation capabilities include:
These capabilities enable smallholder farmers to collectively scale up production and product quality to meet modern market standards.
Flow of Pariir operates in alignment with:
As the cooperative scales operations, steps are underway to secure export certifications and halal accreditation.
In the “RFO2 Achievers in Agriculture & Fisheries” video by the Department of Agriculture, Flow of Pariir was praised for its impactful role in enhancing local livelihood and offering nutritious, convenient food options using locally sourced raw materials. Local government officials and regional trade facilitators have recognized the cooperative’s innovative contributions to the food sector.
Flow of Pariir Agriculture Cooperative represents a transformative model of rural entrepreneurship that blends traditional agriculture with science-based food innovation. Its journey from farm-level production to value-added manufacturing exemplifies the future of sustainable and inclusive agribusiness in the Philippines.
