The Sarah Baartman District Municipality, formerly known as the Cacadu District Municipality, is situated in the western part of the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, covering an area of 58, 242 square kilometers. It encompasses seven local municipalities and serves as a coordinating body to support and provide sustainable services, promoting socio-economic development within the district. The municipality is named in honor of Sarah Baartman, a Khoikhoi woman who became an international icon symbolizing the commitment to democracy by the South African government.
